What is the difference between Atmospheric Preconditioning and Atmospheric Conditioning?

The required Atmospheric Preconditioning (aka Laboratory Acclimation) is to help the package reach a stable temperature, should be exposed to extreme temperatures on the way to the lab.

The optional Atmospheric Conditioning is not challenging the thermal performance of a package such as an insulated shipping container which has pharmaceuticals in it but rather is attempting to understand how that package will perform while in that condition not as a result of that condition.
